Brownsville
The Moyer House - Photo by Brian Carroll The journey begins at Highway 228 (exit 216 on I-5) and continues 4-miles east to Brownsville. Oregon's third oldest town, Brownsville, settled in 1846, contains some well-preserved historic structures more than 100 years old. Housed in an 1890 Railroad Depot and boxcars, the Linn County Historical Museum contains reconstructed scenes of Linn County and pioneer life many other exhibits. Volunteers at the museum are very knowledgeable about the town and the region. The elegant Moyer House, built and furnished in the style of its time is of Italianate architecture. To add to the list of interesting displays, the Pioneer Picture Gallery contains photographs of the settling families and their kin. Small shops and businesses line the streets of downtown to invite and entice the visitor. The Corner Café, in downtown Brownsville, provides an excellent array of food for breakfast and lunch in a charming atmosphere.
